| | | Health hunter | | Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 2:51:57 PM by Blog57 Team | | For Jo Benezra, the defining moment came two years ago after a family vacation to the Virgin Islands. She saw a photograph of herself, wearing a bathing suit and weighing 182 pounds. The picture said it all. `You've got to be kidding. Is this how I really look?' Benezra thought, vowing she would change how she looked. And she did. Since then, she has lost more than 50 pounds, dropped several dress sizes and taken up jogging with her husband, Cliff. The couple frequently travels, jogging through each new city they visit. It has made "a world of difference," she says. Seeing a picture of yourself was the catalyst for losing weight? That was when I got started, that day. I looked at that and said, `I'm not going to be 60 years and old and look like that.' You get older, but you don't have to be fat and frumpy.... | |

| | | Yobs 'should be sent to sin bins' | | Posted Monday, November 06, 2006 7:02:55 AM by Blog57 Team | | People who repeatedly flout anti-social behaviour laws should be housed in "sin bin" centres with tough rules and curfews, the Government's Respect tsar has said. Anti-social behaviour chief Louise Casey said she wanted to extend family intervention projects so they could also accommodate "chaotic" individuals. Some 50 "sin-bins" are currently being started up across the country, but they only cater for families who have a history of causing misery for their neighbours. Problem clans are moved out of their council houses and into the secure centres. Critics have claimed the boarding-school-style projects are nothing more than open prisons for people who have not been sentenced by the courts. But, in an interview with the Independent on Sunday, Ms Casey said she had seen evidence that the harsh regimes were effective.... | |
